About Kalium Energy Technology

Dr. Michael Simpson standing in the Utah Pyrometallurgy Laboratory

Building America's domestic, proliferation-resistant nuclear fuel supply

KET was founded by Dr. Michael Simpson in 2026 with the mission to enable the commercialization of groundbreaking research from his lab at the University of Utah. Specifically, Dr. Simpson's research group has completed initial feasibility testing on a revolutionary new approach to recycling spent nuclear fuel from commercial light water reactors called Pyrox.

KET is currently raising capital in addition to applying for non-dilutive grants to complete the final phase of lab-scale testing using uranium and surrogates for transuranic actinides and fission products in the Utah Pyrometallurgy Laboratory. It has an exclusive license from the University of Utah for technology developed in Dr. Simpson's lab. It also has NDAs with two major advanced nuclear reactor companies.
